Simple Organizational Tips




kitchen cupboards are the supply warehouse in the kitchen cupboards. Except for the perishables, this is where we keep everything we need for food and cooking. To emphasize its importance is to know how we use them in storing the items we need in preparing our food.

What started out to be the systematic arrangement of the items in the cupboards could likely be chaotic after a while. We could be storing vitamins next to the pepper bottle or some canned olives standing side by side with some dried-up lentils we completely forgot to transfer to the fridge.

Some nasty arrangements of piled up items are usually found in cupboards under the sink.
Arranging back these items to their rightful places in organized, systematic order is possible
by way of simple, typical classification techniques.

Purging

Purging your cupboard is the first order of the day. The other name is getting rid of multiples. Having three cast-iron pots is not convenience, but a clutter.

Another action is getting items that can play multiple purposes. Table-ready pots can save space and time and you can easily bring them over from the oven to the table to the fridge. Some typical Pyrex baking dishes can keep things simple and versatile.

Frequency

You will have items that you will need daily, weekly and monthly. Get those items used daily within an arm’s reach, the weekly ones a little higher up and the rest can stay on your top shelf.

If your high-mileage pots and pans are not accessible during cooking, the system collapses. If you can’t see it, chances are you won’t use it. Having a three-tier spice rack on the shelf will keep your spices organized and immediately identifiable.

Make sure you store things in cabinets and drawers close to where they are used. The plates and silver ware can be near each other and near the dishwasher. The glasses can be neatly stored near the sink. Store the knives near the cutting boards and the prep space.

Vertical thinking

The shelves in the kitchen cupboards cabinets may be high but you need not stack plates ceiling-high.
Use the vertical space in the cupboards by having adjustable vertical dividers. These will store things much easier like cookware, baking sheets, cutting board and big serving platters.

Use shelf risers to eliminate the cumbersome stacking inside your cabinets and create more usable space (shelves). These extra shelves can be used to store bowls and plates. It can even be useful to store canned and boxed food.

Uniform groupings

Uniform containers are soothing to see with their labels and clearly organized. Cereal, flour, beans, coffee, even tea bags are items that should be put inside canisters and labeled.

The uniform containers arranged properly fit together better, meaning less wasted space. Decant those frequently-used food and drinks into more space saving uniform containers. (Square and rectangle containers fit together better.)

Label up

A noted expert says labeling is an important aspect of organization because it transforms your work from a mish-mash type to something clear and with defined boundaries.

The labels become a gentle reminder for you to put things back where they should be.
